Eric Church is only a few weeks away from kicking off his Blood, Sweat and Beers tour, but he's already feeling the love from his fans. The singer admits he is pleasantly surprised by how quickly tickets have sold for the 50-plus dates he currently has scheduled."I was blown away," Eric confides to ABC News Radio. "We're going to sell most of these rooms out. We didn't think that was gonna happen. We just hoped we'd make a good showing."
The tireless entertainer says he plans on making sure fans get more than their money's worth when he hits the stage each night. "You can only blow up so much stuff," he acknowledges. "You've got to get to a point where the music carries it. We still try to keep it that way, but make it interesting and maybe make it something that country music fans haven't seen before."
The 'Drink in My Hand' singer saw his third album, 'Chief,' debut at No. 1 when it was released in July. And while he's grateful for the success of the CD, Eric says a lot of work went into making sure it was the best album he could release.
"I don't know if other people think about it, but I'm obsessed with the order of the songs," he concedes to The Boot. "I think about the space between songs, because sometimes, it's a big rockin' song and the next one's a ballad, and you don't want to go right to it. You want to breathe a minute, then go to it. So I look at the spacing between them. You can get real anal and look, you'll see there are different spaces between the songs on the album. A lot of albums these days are uniform, ours aren't. We actually make them longer or shorter, depending on the songs."
Eric will take time out from his Blood, Sweat and Beers tour to head to Los Angeles in February, where he is nominated for a Grammy for Best Country Album. His tour will kick off on Jan. 19 in Fort Smith, Ark., with Brantley Gilbert serving as opening act. See his concert schedule here.
