Center for International Programs and School of Business host ...

Students at site visit to the International Institute for Learning in NYC

A new, three-week summer program run by International Programs and the School of Business has brought more than 100 students to campus from Latin America. The program consists of seminars in marketing, finance, project management, and strategic thinking with faculty from the School of Business, coupled with English for business purposes classes with faculty from the Haggerty English Language Program. The week is capped off with site visits at New York City organizations related to the students area of interest every Friday. Sites have ranged from a top marketing firm to an organ donor center to the New York Stock Exchange.

?There has been a real increase in the popularity of short-term study abroad programs over the last few years,? says Jeff Pollard, coordinator of the Institute for International Business. ?I am excited that SUNY New Paltz was targeted to receive this group, due in large part to our strong Business and Intensive English language program. Naturally, our beautiful campus and proximity to New York City also played into the decision to come here.?

Pollard hopes to grow the program significantly next summer, and incorporate more research and collaborative opportunities with faculty who are on campus during the summer months. Throughout the duration of the program, which runs July 5 ? 27, the students are residing in Crispell Hall and dining in Hasbrouck.
